Beth Bourland is a lifelong artist with more than 20 years as a media communications professional. Her impressionist landscapes and illustrations depict the working waterfront, everyday neighborhoods, coastal towns, and tropical locations.
She grew up in a small town in a family home designed and built by her father, Ben. As a carpenter, draftsman and artist, he influenced Beth to see her environment in terms of shape, light, shadow, line, and texture.
She has studied plein air painting with Martha DePoo and Sanford Birdsey in Key West and has taken workshops with Mel Stabin and Tony Couch. She has studied contemplative sketchbooking with Susan Cornelius and has worked in a variety of media in courses at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, the Mendocino Art Center, the University of California at Riverside and other institutions. She will be participating in several shows and events this year.
